Anirudha Chattopadhyay is an accomplished academic and researcher specializing in plant pathology and virology. He obtained his B.Sc. (Ag.) Dr. Anirudha Chattopadhyay began his academic journey with a B.Sc.(Ag.) Hons. degree in Agriculture from Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, in 2008. He then pursued an M.Sc.(Ag.) in Mycology & Plant Pathology at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, graduating in 2010. His academic pursuit culminated in a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology, with a specialization in Plant Virology, from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, which he completed in 2020.

Professional Recognition/Awards

Dr. Anirudha Chattopadhyay has received notable professional recognition for his contributions to the field. In 2017, he was awarded the Best Paper presented (Oral) award (1st Prize) for his work on the “Exploration of biocontrol potential of nematophgous fungi: Status and opportunity” by Anand Agricultural University, Anand in collaboration with the Indian Phytopathological Society, New Delhi. More recently, in 2023, he secured the Best Paper presented (Oral) award (2nd Prize) for his research on the “In silico prediction of signatures in 3’ UTR of tobamoviruses for replication,” presented at Anand Agricultural University, Anand in collaboration with the Indian Society of Mycology and Plant Phytopathology, Udaipur.

Fellowship

Dr. Anirudha Chattopadhyay has been the recipient of several prestigious fellowships during his academic career. He was awarded the ICAR-SRF(PGS) fellowship by ICAR for the year 2011-12, which he held from 2012 to 2013. Additionally, he received the IARI merit fellowship during his Ph.D. programme at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), which he held from 2012 to 2014.

Dr. Chattopadhyay has been serving as an Assistant Professor at S.D. Agricultural University since April 9, 2014. His tenure at the university continues to date, where he contributes significantly to the field of Plant Pathology.

Examined methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) prevalence in cockroaches from hospitals in Chaharmahal-va-Bakhtiari Province, Iran. Analyzed the epidemiology of urinary tract infections and antibiotic resistance patterns in E. coli within a hospital setting. Performed in-silico evaluations of potential antibiotic candidates using Methicillin and Isoxazole derivatives. Investigated genetic variations of Staphylococcus aureus strains isolated from cockroaches in hospitals. Conducted molecular docking analyses of Lavandula angustifolia Mill compounds to assess their interaction with the GABAA receptor, potentially reducing stress. Performed in-vitro assessments of the antibacterial activity of plant extracts from Glaucium elegans and Crocus sativus. Analyzed the in-silico molecular docking of Lavandula Angustifolia Mill compounds alongside various anti-anxiety medications for potential stress reduction effects.
